I drew Uncle Scrooge earlier today for my morning warm-up. Man, Duck Tales was such a great show!

I was super inspired by the mighty Sean "Cheeks" Galloway's MMA and Parkour sketches lately, so, I decided to work on my own reference drawing.  This drawing was based on reference from an MMA fighter's pose that I found on Google.

After I had finished the sketch I couldn't resist adding some ink and color to the pose, and, as an added bonus I did an alternate classic yellow costume version as well.

Peter Powers!

Hey, everyone! If you're going to be at the con this weekend, stop by Little Brown (Booth 1116) to get a sneak peek at another book series that I illustrated this year. "Peter Powers and His Not-So-Special Powers" written by Brandon T. Snider drops this fall!

Carlo Strange

Lately I've been reading all of the 1960s Tales of Suspense books starting with issue 39, the first appearance of Iron Man. The stories are grade A, Golden Age, Marvel cheese. I've really been enjoying all of the villains from ToS. So, here is my take on Carlo Strange: one of the first crazy characters to go up against the Invincible Iron Man.

Chakra powers ACTIVATE!!!

I was feeling a little nostalgic about my time working on Stan Lee's Chakra the Invincible. So, this morning's warm up is of the little hero himself: Chakra the Invincible.

Will the real Superman please fly up?

Regarding Superman's costume: I'll always be a fan of the classic look with the yellow belt and the red trunks. It's a classic look for a classic character. I'm glad that DC is moving away from the New 52 costume though. I'm not sure why so many creators always want to re-design Superman's suit with a high, militaristic collar. It just doesn't fit with his personality. Of course, in a time where we have a dark, joyless Superman in the movies I guess the comics become a reflection of how the character is perceived within popular culture. Superman should always represent power and strength while also exhibiting kindness and warmth. It's what makes him Super. My morning warm-up for today is a drawing of Superman in his new "Rebirth" costume. I'm still not crazy about the red belt and the blue boots, but, I'm glad that they've moved back to the open collar. Either way, this was my morning warm-up drawing of the Man of Steel in his new duds.

Lately, I've been working so hard on all of my book projects and other jobs that I decided to take some time out of the day and do something just for fun. So, I added some color to my Mr. Fantastic sketch from this morning.

Battle Worn Batgirl

A late night Batgirl drawing.  I took a little bit of Barbara's costume from the 60's Batman show and mashed it up with hints of Batman's costume from Greg Capullo's and Scott Snyder's Batman run.

The Valor Saga Remembered

Way back in 2001, toward the end of high school and right after. My friend Paul and I tried making a comic book: "The Valor Saga." We had big plans for the book but sadly it never really got off of the ground. Paul had the whole book outlined and a few issues written and I managed to get a couple of pages drawn. An old co-worker of mine had made a statue of one of the characters and we even had a few other friends draw variant covers. Paul recently emailed me a bunch of old Valor drawings, and, since I love the "Draw this Again" meme -- I thought I would revisit the character of Thanian. Maybe one day we'll go back to world of The Valor Saga and get those books made.

Hey Baby, I Hear the Blues a-Callin'

Some fan art celebrating one of my favorite podcasts: Talk Salad and Scrambled Eggs!
The really cool thing is is that Kevin Smith himself saw this illustration and asked if he could use it for the show’s art!  Needless to say, it made my day.
Thank you, Kevin Smith, for being so cool to your fans!
